THE WINE

The second vintage from vines planted in 2001 on a sloping site with rows planted in an east – west orientation. The wine is crisp with a wonderful fresh mouth-feel. Aromas of pears, lemon and orange blossom herald flavours of lime and custard apples.

VINEYARD MANAGEMENT

Planted in 2001, the vines were spur pruned to two buds per spur. Moisture levels were monitored to enable the provision of adequate water during the growing period to develop the canopy and protect the fruit from sunburn. Riesling is a delicate grape and ripeness is obtained in the shade of leaves to produce slower ripening and more intricate flavours. The yield was eight tons per hectare.
